Dear Spotnet users,

Because we have switched to a new and improved security protocol, a number of people are experiencing problems with Spotnet.
At first we thought that Spotnet V2 (because it was newer in our opinion) should work well.
However, we were told by the makers of Spotnet themselves that V2 does not support the new security and that V2 is no longer being developed.
They have indicated to us that the correct and working version with the new security protocol Spotnet "Classic" is 1.9.08. This version has been adapted and optimized for the new and better security protocols.

They have stated that they provide "support" themselves on their forum regarding issues with Spotnet. Spotnet is a piece of software to be able to download, but it's not ours! We cannot give "support" for this because we simply do not have the right knowledge. The only thing we can do for our customers is to explain how to uninstall an older version, and how to install and configure the correct (working) version!

Step 1:

Uninstall Spotnet.
Not everything will be gone from your PC after installation, please follow the steps below.

1 Click on my computer (this computer)
2 click on the c drive
3 Click the program data folder
4 Scroll down until you see the SpotNet map
5 Delete this folder!!

*NB! you may not see the program data folder.
You can fix this by clicking tools > folder options > view > Show hidden files and folders.
I use an English operating system myself and at the moment I can't remember what it says if it concerns a Dutch OS.

Once you have completed these steps, go to the following link and download Spotnet Classic

Once you have downloaded Spotnet, you will install it.
When the installation is complete, fill in the following information:

Your username and password
server : news.hitnews.com
Port : 563
Connections : 100 (this is not in the drop-down menu of spotnet, and you have to type this in yourself)
SSL : tick

If you have filled in everything, then spotnet will create a new database and it will work again.
